One of the things I struggle with is my email inbox.
There was a time when I would subscribe to just a few blogs and/or eNL and would get these updates via e-mail.
As the number of bloggers I follow has grown and as Google Reader has gotten so good (both on the laptop and on the iPhone) I have unsubscribed to most of these on e-mail and prefer to get almost all of these kinds of updates via RSS feed.
Apparently a bunch of you don't agree. According to a recent survey of information management social activists, a thin plurality still get blogger updates via email or via email digests vs. RSS (47% to 44%). Another alternative -- most of the "other" responses -- is just to use Twitter recommendations and links to find the blog postings of interest.
- 30% use Twitter for BUSINESS networking at least once per day
- LinkedIn could be the ultimate business social platform winner. COULD be.
- Underappreciated social networking tools
- Why are YOU spending time on social networks?
[Note: The survey was targeted at current LinkedIn, Facebook, and InformationZen participants, as well as readers of the Digital Landfill blog. The intent was to focus on business use of social media tools outside the firewall by users, suppliers, and consultants in the information management space. The survey was conducted in February 2010 and had 332 respondents. Feel free to reuse any statistics with the attribution "AIIM, Survey of Social Media Activists, http://www.aiim.org"
